Information regarding the ceremony on November 15 2013
The ceremony in Stockholm City Hall
The inauguration of new professors and conferment of new doctors takes place i the City Hall of Stockholm on Friday the November 15 2013 at 5.00 p.m followed by a cocktail reception and banquet with ball.
Invitations will be sent out from mid September.
New doctors
In accordance with academic tradition, those who have defended their thesis and have been conferred with a doctorate during the 2012-2013 academic year (October 1 2012 - October 1 2013) will be eligible for the conferment ceremony above.
Thesis supervisors
Thesis supervisors will be invited to the event only if their particular student is attending.
New professors
New professors between September 1st 2012 - September 1st 2013 will be invited with partner.
Affiliated- visiting- and adjunct professors will be mentioned in the printed program and have a reserved seat among the faculty as well as in the academic procession.
The promoted new professors will be inaugurated on the stage.
The ceremony
Both doctors and professors can invite 2 additional guests except their partner to attend the ceremony free of charge, however they must be equipped with entrance passes.
Cocktail reception and banquet
New doctors and new professors are invited with their partner and guests to attend the cocktail reception after the ceremony.
KTH also invites new doctors and new professors with partner to the following banquet. The banquet takes place in the Golden Hall and starts at approximately 7.45 p.m.
Attire
The dresscode 'white tie' is strictly required for new doctors and new professors who attends the ceremony. This attire is also desirable for guests taking part in the banquet. However, no evening dress i required for those guests attending the ceremony only.
Rehearsal
New doctors, please make sure to watch the short film on this page ( in the Swedish version) from a previous ceremony, in order to understand the procedure. Please aslo read through the information in for detailed information. This information and the film, will replace the rehearshal. In order to make the most out of the ceremony it is very essential that you take part of this information.
Diploma, Doctor's hat, Doctor's ring
During the ceremony, all doctors conferred will receive a diploma. At KTH a Doctor's hat and ditto ring are not compulsory elements of the conferment ceremony. Everyone is, however, free to acquire such regalia individually.
The hat is brought to the Blue Hall, stored under each person's chair and then put on after the ceremony.
The charge for a hat is approximately SEK 4600 excluding gold badge. Allow at least 6 weeks for delivery. For hat orders, please contact Master of Ceremonies Anna Almlow by e-mail ceremonier@kth.se
