Covers
All doctoral theses, licentiate theses and degree projects must have uniform covers. The covers of doctoral theses are blue, those of licentiate theses are grey and of degree projects beige.
Covers are produced, without exception, in the G5 format (169 x 239mm). For degree projects, there are also covers designed for the A4 format. The cover has a place for a picture, if you wish. The picture may also be a graph or something similar. Pictures can be printed in four-colour, black-and-white or duplex (black combined with the relevant colour).
Covers of theses are produced by the printing shop which prints the thesis itself. This is partly because the fonts are not available to all users at KTH and partly to maintain a consistent design. At present, the framework agreement only applies to covers. Originals for covers are available at all our contracted printing shops.
There is a template available with guidance on what information is to be included on the cover. The Word file is filled in and submitted for formatting to the printing shop which will print the thesis. The template can be found at the bottom of this page.
If a student chooses to have a thesis printed outside the context of examination, KTH's graphical profile or logotype may not be used. However, it must be stated on the title page or in the preface that the thesis was presented at KTH.
