Typography
KTH has two profile fonts – The Sans and Granjon. The Sans is a font that works well in titles, captions and tables. Granjon is suitable for use in the body, for example. No other fonts than those mentioned below may be used.
External material
The Sans and Granjon are to be used for external materials, e.g., central and general printed materials from KTH such as annual reports, fact folders, job vacancies, prospectuses and student recruitment materials.
When upper-case abbreviations, such as KTH, are used in the font Granjon, the text is set in 75% of the upper case.
Numerals are set in 100% Granjon SmallCaps. Lower-case numerals are used in the body, upper-case numerals mainly in tables.
Internal materials
There are only a few licences for The Sans and Granjon fonts, and these are administered by the Information Department. To avoid the problems associated with installing new fonts on all of our various computer platforms, we have chosen, for day-to-day purposes and for materials produced internally, to use two fonts similar in form to The Sans and Granjon, namely Verdana and Garamond. These fonts are already available as standard in most computers at KTH.
Materials produced internally refers to memos, letters, minutes, reports and PowerPoint presentations etc.
Verdana is suitable for use in titles and tables, and Garamond for the body.
PowerPoint presentations use only Verdana, since Verdana is a font particularly suitable for use in digital materials.
