Rules for writing
Below are some simple rules as concerns writing text connected to KTH.
Name
Primarily use KTH when writing. In some text it may be necessary to first write out the full name – KTH Royal Institute of Technology – but after this
write KTH.
If the full name in Swedish is to be written then use Kungliga Tekniska högskolan. Please note that “högskolan” begins with a lower case letter.
School names are written out in full i.e. School of Biotechnology, School of Architecture and the Built Environment etc. Avoid abbreviations of school names such as KTH STH, KTH ABE etc. in external communications. External target groups are not aware of what these abbreviations mean. It is always clearer to write out the name in full, for example School of Engineering Sciences.
If the name of the department is to be written then use the full name e.g. Department of Energy Technology, Department of Organic Chemistry etc. Do not use abbreviations.
KTH campus at Valhallavägen is named KTH Campus, and the other campuses are KTH Kista, KTH Haninge, KTH Södertälje and KTH Flemingsberg.
KTH is also located at AlbaNova University Centre (jointly with Stockholm University).
The library is called KTH Library.
Sender and addresses
It is vital for the searchability of articles and publications that everyone writes these in the same manner. If all employees at KTH use the same structure for sender and addresses then it will be clear and simple
for the receiver or reader.
KTH is written first, either as KTH or as Royal Institute of Technology, depending on the publication. The name of the school is written out in full, i.e. School of Biotechnology, School of Architecture and the Built Environment etc. In cases where the name of the department is to be included then this must also be written out in full - Department of Energy Technology, Department of Organic Chemistry etc. Do not use abbreviations.
