The President has decided
The president has decided that the following guidelines shall apply to requirements for promotion of students to the next year/term on engineer and architect programmes and masters’ programmes. These guidelines are to be seen as a minimum level; the school boards may establish their own conditions in addition to the guidelines.
KTH requirements for promotion, engineer and architect programmes:
Requirements for promotion from year 1 to year 2:
A total of at least 45 credits from year 1 must be completed.
Requirements for promotion from year 2 to year 3:
A total of at least 90 credits from years 1 and 2 must be completed, of which at least 50 credits from year 1.
Requirements for promotion from year 3 to year 4:
A total of at least 150 credits from years 1 - 3 must be completed, of which at least 110 credits from years 1 - 2. For students whose syllabuses include first cycle degree projects for second cycle degrees as an obligatory course requirement, this must be completed before studies in year 4 may be started.
Requirements for promotion from year 4 to year 5:
A total of at least 45 credits from year 4 must be completed in addition to other conditions for moving up.
KTH requirements for promotion, two years masters’ programmes:
Requirements for promotion to year 2:
A total of 45 credits from year 1 must be completed.
KTH requirements for promotion, one year masters’ programmes
Requirements for promotion from term 1 to term 2:
A total of at least 10 credits from term 1 must be completed.
A review must be made of all students on the basis of KTH general requirements and/or the requirements established by the School Board before promoting students to a higher year/term. The responsibility for the review lies with the Director of Undergraduate and Masters’ studies. This responsibility may be delegated to the programme coordinator, if the school has appointed one.
Individual study plans must be drawn up for students who do not fulfil the requirements for promotion. The main purpose of the individual study plans is to ensure that students will be able to manage the remaining course elements during the following academic year/term. The remaining course elements and suitable courses from the next academic year/term shall be included in the study plan. Special consideration must be given to course requirements.
This replaces internal instruction no. 2/02, 11/08
