Seminar abstract:

The presentation starts with an introduction of the Swedish TSO Svenska kraftnät. This will include a broader discussion about the different roles and responsibilities that a TSO has.

Then I will present the work of my unit. We handle electromagnetic fields from our power lines. This includes EMC questions, working environment when building or maintaining powerlines, both related to direct effects from being in high electric or magnetic fields and coupling effects, such as induction and influence as well as how the general public is affected by our power lines, concerning electromagnetic fields. We also handle earthing questions. How to ensure that the power grid is safe, even during a fault and that our infrastructure doesn’t negatively affect the surrounding conductive structures, with for example a high transferred touch voltage.

Speaker Bio:

I graduated from KTH last year, with a masters in electric power engineering and started working for Svenska kraftnät in the fall, where I also did my thesis work in studying ways of modelling the inductive coupling to a continuous counter poise. I now work with questions concerning electric and magnetic fields when working on or near our power lines as well as how to handle induction and influence when work is being done near our power lines.
