New affiliations, revised programme syllabuses, and work with referrals
The Faculty Board's June meeting
The faculty board recently held its final meeting of the spring. The agenda included, among other things, decisions on new affiliated faculty members, educational matters, and the school's referral response to the revised appointments procedure.
An important item at the meeting was the decision to bring several new individuals into the organisation through affiliation and adjunct appointments. The board decided on two new affiliated faculty members, one affiliated professor and one adjunct professor. The new additions come from other organisations and higher education institutions but will be active at KTH on a part-time basis in areas including research, supervision, teaching, and work on research applications. The affiliations, covering areas such as business administration and sustainable constructions, strengthen several of the school's operational areas while also contributing to new collaborations and networks.
The meeting also included decisions to establish and discontinue a number of courses at various educational levels. In addition, several programme syllabuses for master's programmes were revised. These matters had previously been prepared in the faculty board's first and second cycle, and third-cycle education committees.
A major discussion point concerned the school's referral response to the proposed appointments procedure. The board's mandate is to submit a joint – though not necessarily unanimous – response on behalf of the school. During the meeting, the board went through the views submitted by both individual staff members and departments. The discussions will form the basis for the referral response to be forwarded to KTH's central preparatory process.
The board also received updates on current matters within both the ABE School and KTH more broadly from Head of School Björn Berggren and Vice-chair Pernilla Hagbert. Among other things, Björn reported on the ABE School's most recent school dialogue with the president.
In the autumn, an election of teacher representatives to the faculty board will be held ahead of the new mandate period at the turn of the year. As part of the election process, an information meeting is planned where staff will have the opportunity to meet the current faculty board and learn more about its work.
The faculty board will convene again after the summer break.
