Baltic University Programme (BUP)

The ABE school is a member of the Baltic University Programme, a member organisation for universities in the Baltic Sea Region. Member organisations are able to send students and teachers to BUP courses and conferences.

The Baltic University Programme (BUP) is a member organisation with 86 Member Universities, most of them situated in the drainage area of the Baltic Sea. The Programme is coordinated by the Baltic University Programme Coordinating Secretariat at Uppsala University, Sweden.

The organisation strives to find novel ways of interaction and cooperation among universities by promoting openness, internationalization and mobility. The main aim is to support building strong regional educational and research communities. The Programme is committed to gain and disseminate knowledge in the fields of sustainable development, environmental protection, nature resources, democracy and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

Student Conference 2020

The BUP’s annual student conference 2020 has the topic Sustainable Food Production in Conditions of Climate Change.

The conference aims develop the participants knowledge and spark new ideas in a four-days conference in Slovakia.

Student delegation to EU's Annual Forum

The BUP invites students to take part in the student delegation to the EU´s Annual Forum for the Baltic Sea Region.

Participants will have the chance to meet with stakeholders and take part in seminars organized at the Forum.

Mobility Grant 2020

The BUP's mobility grant for Young Researchers aims to develop and strengthen the cooperation among young researchers in the Baltic Sea region.

The grants are intended to support young scholars in their research on sustainable development in the Baltic Sea Region. It is open to PhD students and Postdoc scholars from BUP Member Universities. All scientific diciplines are welcomed.Two grants are given on €3000 each.

PhD Award 2020

The award is given to the PhD work that is judged to be the most qualified according to the following criteria: inter-/multi disciplinary approach, novelty, innovation, and value for promoting sustainable development.

Supervisors nominate their PhD students, which must have defended their thesis at a BUP member university during the year 2019.

The winner will receive a prize in the form of a diploma and a sum of up to 500€ to cover travel costs and/or accomodation for attending a research conference.

BARI – The Baltic Science Network Mobility Programme for research internships

BARI – The Baltic Science Network Mobility Programme for research internships in summer 2020 in the fields of Life Sciences, Photon & Neutron Science and Welfare State in the Baltic Sea Region will start soon.

PhD candidates will host a BA/MA student in their research project. Internship period is 1 June – 16 October 2020 (2 -12 weeks).

  • Applications by PhD candidates for hosting research internships starts 1st February 2020!
  • Applications for BA/MA students will happen 29 February – 31 March 2020.

A great possibility for PhD students to get a student from another BSR country to their research project!

An excellent opportunity for BA/MA students to be acquainted with interesting research project according their own preference concerning theme and country/university in the Baltic Sea Region!

Contribute to the journal Sustainability's special issue - deadline May 2020

The journal Sustainability (ISSN 2071-1050, Impact Factor 2.592) is currently running a Special Issue entitled "Sustainable Development of Rural Areas and Agriculture". BUP members are invited to contribute to this issue (see: www.mdpi.com/journal/sustainability/special_issues/sus_rural_agri )
Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. Manuscripts regarding research proposals and research ideas will be particularly welcomed.

The submission deadline is 31 May 2020. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted). Submitted papers should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
