Compensation first and second cycle education

Do teachers from other departments and schools participate in any of your courses? The management coordinators are a support in the work of gathering information and establishing any agreements.

Hourly compensation for teaching activities within ABE

Professor (ABE)
2,000 SEK/hour

Associate Professor (ABE)
1,500 SEK/hour

Adjunct/Assistant Professor (ABE)
1,150 SEK/hour

Researcher (ABE)
1,150 SEK/hour

Minor teaching contributions (under 100,000 SEK)

For these contributions, no agreement is required, unless the course-owning unit itself wishes. The teaching staff who is recieving funds completes the form. The finance administration ensures that a transfer of funds is made between the departments/schools and provides feedback to the course-owning unit.

As support for calculating compensation for the contribution, see the box on the right showing the hourly rate.

ABE-internal courses form for minor contributions at ABE
(e.g., when a teacher from another department at ABE has given a lecture or supervised a thesis).

Courses owned by other KTH schools: form for minor contributions with other schools at KTH

Larger contributions and collaborations (over 100,000 SEK)

For courses owned by the ABE School, an agreement is established with support from ledningskoordinator-abe@kth.se , who also coordinates the signing process.

For established collaborations involving contributions to a course from different departments, we recommend that an open-ended agreement be put in place. Compensation is calculated and processed by the ABE economy administration each semester and reconciled via email between the departments/schools involved.

If a new agreement should be drafted, please send the following to ledningskoordinator-abe@kth.se

  1. Course code and course name, and assignment (teaching, full module, grading, etc.)

  2. Contact persons from participating schools/departments

  3. How is the revenue distributed?

    • based on the number of students

    • a lump sum per semester

    • what percentage of the course revenue goes to each unit.

  4. Invoice reference to the person who approves the invoice if the agreement is with another school at KTH.

If the course is owned by another school

The course-owning school is responsible for drawing up any agreements in accordance with their procedures. The management coordinators keep a record over agreements received. Where valid agreements are in place, the economy administration manages the invoicing and follows up with the participating department at ABE. If you collaborate in a course offered by another school, it is therefore important that you ensure the necessary documentation is sent to ledningskoordinator-abe@kth.se  in good time to allow invoicing to take place.
