OLI - Open Learning Initiative

Founded in 2002, OLI is a recognized leader in adaptive courseware, learning engineering, and open education. OLI's latest platform, Torus, is a state-of-the-art technology for designing, delivering, and improving online courses. By capturing and evaluating learner data, Torus drives powerful feedback loops that assist learners and educators, improve courses, and can even contribute to the larger understanding of how humans learn.

Recent, active use of the OLI platform includes over five million enrollments from independent learners and more than 500,000 academic enrollments (in credit-bearing contexts). 6,180 educators currently have instructor accounts on the delivery platform. OLI’s authoring and improvement tools host 900 users, who include faculty, learning engineers, course developers and instructional designers. The OLI platform also supports a large research community, particularly through seamless integration with DataShop/LearnSphere; 700 researchers access OLI datasets for primary and secondary analysis.
