Will my phone be made of scrap?

Many politicians and activists suggest replacing burning of fossil fuels with clean electricity as a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions for transport and for industry. Many electrified processes rely on metals and other materials that are difficult to find, are polluting, or which require a lot of energy to make. Devices such as mobile phones and car batteries also use these “critical” materials. This is a problem, as using such materials can cause the problem you are trying to avoid. Electrification can solve many problems, but only if we think carefully about where and how we get the materials we need. Join us to learn about some of these materials and what we can do to achieve climate goals in a sustainable way.

KTH Energy Platform and KTH Library present an exhibition with the theme Towards the energy of the future – the invisible revolution behind the electrical socket.
