Welcome to one of our monthly seminars held at lecture hall FB52 at KTH! This time the subject is massive stars .

The most massive stars in the universe end their lives in powerful supernova explosions. The ejected material enrich the universe with new elements that were formed inside the star and in the explosion itself. These elements can be identified through their spectral emission lines, and in the most nearby explosions we can also reconstruct their spatial distribution in 3D. Josefin will explain how this reconstruction is done, present recently obtained 3D maps and discuss how the results can help us understand the explosions.
