The conference will use the latest in online conferencing technology to create a dynamic and interactive environment for participants, with workshops, group discussions, research presentations and keynote lectures from invited speakers.

The theme of this multidisciplinary conference is Resolving Functional Conflicts in Vehicle Design. This will be explored through topics including modelling for multifunctional design; making trade-offs; efficient use of materials and space; integrating new solutions; transforming the product system; transforming the vehicle-transport system; sustainable design; and early-stage design.

This conference is organised by the Centre for ECO2 Vehicle Design at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, with the help of our Scientific Committee and supporters.

The theme of the conference is Resolving Functional Conflicts in Vehicle Design. Cars, trucks, trains, aircrafts and boats provide a transport solution for people and goods. In doing so, they generate many economic and societal benefits. However, they also incur many environmental burdens, such as greenhouse gas emissions, resource depletion and environmental noise. This conflict between transport provision and environmental impacts is at the heart of future sustainable vehicle design. Resolving it requires not only technological improvements of the vehicles themselves but also a rethink of the wider vehicles system and the behaviour of the vehicle user.
