The Teaching and Learning Unite! activities are aimed at all faculties and staff involved with education in all partner universities. We are inviting you to meet Unite! colleagues to share practices with the aim of developing your own teaching. Get an insight into how teaching and learning is promoted at different partner universities.
The activities – webinars, courses and training events – are run by pedagogical experts from the partner universities and are free of charge for the Unite! community. All activities are held in English and run online. You may receive a certificate, and some of the activities award credits.

Activity 12: “Will it be on the Exam?” or, How to Motivate your Students for the Subject
Host: KTH
May 25th, 09.00 - 12.00 CET

Motivation is the driving force behind our own and our students‘ learning, and a well studied field of research. As teachers, we have the responsibility to help our students learn, and designing for motivation is one of the more powerful ways of doing this. This half day workshop will give a brief theoretical background to the field of motivational studies, but focus on hand on activities, and the sharing of experiences and good practices.

Learning outcomes, after the workshop you should be able to:
• use findings from research on motivation to enhance your teaching
• analyse learning activities from a motivational standpoint
• design learning activities that stimulate and motivate students
• discuss different approaches to motivation based on contextual factors
• deal constructively with less than perfectly motivated classes
