More than 80% of all biographies on Wikipedia are about men. Therefore the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Wikimedia Sweden organize edit-a-thons around the world to fill Wikipedia with more information about prominent women. The action is a part of the Swedish feminist foreign politics. Read more about the campaign on www.swemfa.se/wikigap

Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Wikimedia, KTH is arranging an edit-a-thon that will last for 4 hours between 14:00 and 18:00 and end with a mingle, where we gather and review the results. We will work in teams of about 4-5 people using a volunteer from Wikimedia to guide the work.

Participate in the WikiGap competition

WikiGap 2019 starts on International Women's Day, March 8th. It will also be the start of an international online competition that will last during 1 month. The volunteers participating in WikiGap between March 8th and April 8th collect points when they contribute to increasing the representation of women on Wikipedia. The WikiGap volunteer who has the most points at the end of the competition wins a gratitude prize in the form of a diploma signed by Foreign Minister Margot Wallström. The competition is completely voluntary and you can still participate in the edit-a-thon on March 8th without participating in the competition.
