Election regarding faculty members of the University Board
According to the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 2 section 7a the teachers are entitled to be represented by three members of the University board. The teachers' representatives shall be elected within the higher education institution.
New teachers’ representatives are to be elected for the period May 2020 - April 2023 through an election. The election is conducted electronically during the period 2-8 March 2020. Information will be sent by e-mail to those with voting rights.
Nomination of candidates
All employees have the opportunity to nominate candidates as teacher representatives during the period 18 November – 1 December 2019 via a Internet-based nomination form. Nominees shall have accepted the nomination.
Those eligible for election are teachers with an indefinite appointment as professor or associate professor with a scope of at least 50 per cent of full-time.
Only those candidates who are proposed by the nomination committee or are nominated during the nomination period and have accepted the nomination, are eligible.
The Faculty Council has selected a Nomination Committee: Per Berglund chairperson, Anna-Karin Tornberg and Anders Forsgren. The Committee will, based on the nominations, propose three candidates.
In the election of Faculty Council members that represent teachers and researchers, those eligible to vote must work at least 50 per cent of full-time in one of the following positions:
- indefinite appointment as professor, associate professor, lecturer or researcher
- appointment as assistant professor
- fixed-term appointment of at least two years as teacher on the basis of artistic merits.
The electoral register for KTH will be established by the President during January 2020, after review of each school.
Presentation of candidates
The Nomination Committee’s proposal and other valid nominations received will be publicized no later than 14 February 2020 on the KTH intranet. Information will also be sent to those with voting rights, no later than 21 February 2020.
Equality between women and men
According the Higher Education Act chapter 1 section 5 equality between women and men shall always be taken into account and promoted in the operations of higher education institutions.
The election is conducted electronically.
Information about the procedure including a list of all candidates will be sent out by e-mail to those with voting rights, no later than 21 February 2020.
To be valid the vote shall have three candidates marked, or be blank, and be handed in via the internet-based ballot during the period 2-8 March 2020. Each name on the ballot has equal value, regardless of placement on the ballot.
The President of KTH confirms the election result when the votes have been counted electronically. Candidates with the highest number of votes will be appointed as teachers’ representatives.
The result will be publicized within KTH on the intranet and on the official notice-board.
The election can not be declared invalid due to low polling.
