Election to the Faculty Council at KTH

A new Faculty Council for the period July 2019-June 2023, including a Dean and Vice Dean, will be appointed in April 2019 through an election among teachers at KTH.

The Faculty Council consists of thirteen members in total, of which seven are teachers appointed through an election in the Faculty, three are external members appointed by the President and three are representatives of the students appointed by THS.

The seven members that represent teachers and researchers are appointed through an election in the Faculty. Following a proposal by the Election Committee, a Dean and Vice Dean are appointed by the President from among the seven teacher representatives.

Those eligible for election are teachers with an indefinite appointment as professor or associate professor with a scope of at least 50 per cent of full-time. The Election Committee is receiving teacher nominations for the Faculty Council in the coming weeks. It is estimated that the Election Committee will present its proposal at the end of February.

The Election Committee is grateful for nominations of teachers who may be suitable for a seat on the Faculty Council (contact one of the Election Committee’s members no later than Friday 8 February).

What does the Faculty Council do?

The Faculty Council represents the entire Faculty and is an advisory body for the President. The Council has overall responsibility for matters relating to the quality of education, research and collaborations with society. The Council also has overall responsibility for the collegial support at KTH.

Information about the election

Lists of people entitled to vote (voting lists) will shortly be reviewed at the schools. The President will establish the voting list in mid-February.

The Election Committee’s proposal will be published at the end of February. It will be possible for those entitled to vote to nominate additional candidates in the beginning of March.

The election will take place electronically at the start of April.

People entitled to vote

In the election of Faculty Council members that represent teachers and researchers, those eligible to vote must work at least 50 per cent of full-time in one of the following positions:

  • indefinite appointment as professor, associate professor, lecturer or researcher 
  • appointment as assistant professor
  • fixed-term appointment of at least two years as teacher on the basis of artistic merits
