Academic Productivity and Sustainable Work Methods
Workshop serie for doctoral students at KTH wishing to enhance their skills in academic productivity, writing and sustainable working methods.
Form and content
Three interconnected workshops to acquire useful tools for sustainable work methods and productivity. The workshops include exercises, dialogue, and the exchange of experiences.
Lunch will be provided after the first introductory workshop, giving participants the opportunity to get to know each other. A course book and materials for each participant are included.
First workshop: “From Efficiency to Results” shifts the focus from "what" to "how" and provides you with strategies and practical techniques to complete your thesis on time while maintaining well-being along the way. You will learn about new tools and apply them to your own work situation. The toolkit consists of research-based methods and proven techniques.
Second workshop: “From Perfectionism and Procrastination to Flow” focuses explicitly on academic writing and common psychological aspects surrounding it. You will, among other things, learn how to achieve a continuous flow in your writing process.
Final workshop: “Sustainable Work Methods” covers proven strategies and tools to shift from negative stress to positive stress. For example, the Demand-Control-Support model explains the causes of stress in the academic environment and helps you find a sustainable long-term working method. It also addresses useful coping techniques for working in a high-performance environment and how to set productive and healthy boundaries in the academic context.
