Amelie on the review of the employment procedures

Published Apr 19, 2023

Head of School Amelie Eriksson Karlström writes about the ongoing review of the employment procedures and the requirements for promotion from associate professor to professor.

After a week with a slightly slower pace, when many employees were on Easter break, we are back at full speed again at KTH. An issue that has been discussed this week in KTH's management team is the ongoing review of the employment procedures and the guideline that belongs to it. The purpose of the review is, among other things, to more clearly describe KTH's eligibility requirements and assessment grounds for different types of employment and how our recruitment and promotion processes are carried out.

In recent years, the requirements for promotion from associate professor to professor have been up for discussion in various contexts at KTH, and as an FFA I have received many questions from people who wonder what applies. Hopefully, the ongoing review can lead to the assessment criteria being more clearly described. At the CBH School, we are positive that our associate professors qualify and have the opportunity to apply for promotion to professor, and it will be easier to plan and provide the right career support if the rules are clear and transparent. A draft of the revised employment procedures and guideline will soon be circulated for comment.
