Propose new student exchange agreements

Published Sep 28, 2021

Every year there is the opportunity to propose new student exchange agreements for the CBH School and KTH. This also applies to exchange agreements that expire and that we want to renew. The process is done twice, in October and in April. This year, a new Erasmus cycle begins, and all agreements within Europe must be reviewed. All staff at the CBH School are now invited to submit contract proposals (which will take effect in the autumn of 2022) before October 1.

KTH has a dimensioning goal of 950 incoming exchange students for the entire KTH, which is in principle already at the maximum (of which approx. 100 at the CBH School). The number of outgoing students from KTH is around 600 (of which about 70 from the CBH School). There is a large imbalance IN-OUT and we have very little room for new exchange partners. The agreement process is therefore primarily about making priorities within the volume we have today. Several agreements at the CBH school will not be renewable for 2022. The scope for new exchange agreements is governed by operational assignments and other priorities for student exchange. All staff at the CBH school are now invited to submit contract proposals (which will take effect in the autumn of 2022) before October 1, 2021. All proposals must be justified according to the criteria below:

1. Academic excellence

Universities with a very high academic standard mean that KTH's students are given the best opportunities for exchange studies and also in terms of the level of the incoming exchange students. Excellence is appreciated based on national and international rankings and our own experiences of educational and research quality.

2. Benefits for working life

Collaborations with universities that provide great benefits for working life and in countries of great importance in general (especially for the technical field) must be given priority. The countries development and future significance also need to be taken into account.

3. Geographical distribution

KTH wants to offer its students a large geographical spread for exchange opportunities. A university can be a priority so that we get cooperation in a certain country, even if the exchange is not yet so great.

4. Language of instruction

English as a language of instruction means the opportunity for more students to study at an exchange university. At the same time, there must be exchange universities where students are given good opportunities to acquire languages other than English in a good way.

5. Reception

The receiving universities must have a good routine for receiving exchange students, both in terms of planning for and conducting exchange studies. The university's teaching and semester system should also work well for exchange studies and there should be a good range of different activities.

6. Attractive

An exchange university must be attractive to KTH's students and add new opportunities for KTH's internationalization.

The list below contains all exchange agreements in our system (September 2021) that belong to the CBH School and all KTH joint agreements.
