Mikael on this year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry

Published Oct 07, 2021

Head of School Mikael Lindström writes about this year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry and the election to the CBH School Faculty Assembly.

Building molecules is a difficult art. Benjamin List and David MacMillan are awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for providing molecular designers with a new and sharp tool: organocatalysis. It has had a major impact in pharmaceutical research, and has also made chemistry greener. It is extra fun for the CBH School as our Deputy Head of School, Professor Amelie Eriksson Karlström, worked with one of the two Nobel laureates, Benjamin List, during her time as a postdoc at The Scripps Research Institute in San Diego. Amelie and Benjamin also have a joint publication from that time "Using antibody catalysis to study the outcome of multiple evolutionary trials of a chemical task". Congratulations to you both!

It is time to elect new members to the School Faculty Assembly at the CBH School. Each department elects two members. If you want to get involved and run as a member or to be re-elected for another term, please email kommunikation@cbh.kth.se  no later than 22 October 2021. Write a short motivation about why you are running and send a picture of you self.

The CBH School Faculty Assembly meet at least twice per semester and the meetings are open to all school colleagues, regardless of assignments in the line organization, who want to contribute and participate in discussions. Feel free to read the interview with Cristina who is chairman of the School Faculty Assembly.
