Mikael about CBH's budget

Published Sep 29, 2022

Head of school Mikael Lindström writes about the CBH School's budget for 2023 and KTH's increased premises costs.

Not all budgets are fun to make, and when we make our financial budget for the CBH School 2023 it unfortunately points to increased premises costs in the wake of high inflation and rising energy costs. KTH has existed for almost 200 years and will continue to exist despite increasing rents, but we need to be wise in how we use the premises at KTH. We want as much of the resources as possible to go to research and education. There is a joint university dialogue with the Ministry of Education, but we also need to work more actively at KTH with regard to premises costs.

A working group has now been formed with the university director, property manager, finance manager and heads of schools. We need to get a grip on the entire local population both for personnel, education and research. We will meet once a week and I am cautiously positive that we can work together and ensure that we get a sustainable rent level at KTH. In a week or so, the President will return with how we at KTH will handle the level that is provisionally in the budget for 2023.
