Mikael about the CBH School's development

Head of school Mikael Lindström writes about the work with the CBH School's development in the next few years and the opportunity for all employees at KTH to nominate a candidate for the position of Deputy President.

On Wednesday, CBH's management team met for a full day of discussions about the school's development over the next few years. We went through the proposals from the departments for new faculty positions and we will be careful in the coming year and replace at the rate that we have retirements in the faculty, which is about two per year. We are waiting for there to be start-up grants in the operational plan for 2023, which is a prerequisite for new recruitment. Furthermore, we have given views on the work with a coordinated operational support as our prefects Cecilia and Istvan participate in a prefect council which is linked to the university director.

We spent the afternoon, led by Sebastiaan and with impressions from our study trip to Wageningen University & Research in June, starting the work of focusing on our areas of strength: health, environment, materials and energy in a larger societal perspective. This is called "mission driven" and is becoming more and more important for our research financiers but also in outward communication. A theme could, for example, be: a longer and healthier life. It is difficult work that will take some time and discussions at the departments, and a number of themes may be needed to cover the whole school.

Don't forget that you, who are employed at KTH, can nominate a candidate for the Deputy President position. You can nominate one or more candidates who you think would be suitable as Deputy President at KTH. Proposals for Deputy President and supporting arguments of max one A4 page are to be submitted by 20 September 2022 at the latest. The position as Deputy President is also a generally advertised position that external as well as internal candidates can apply for.
