Mikael on teleworking

Published Apr 02, 2020

Head of School Mikael Lindström informs that the current situation with distance work will probably continue for a while at the CBH School.

Dear colleagues,

First of all, thank you very much for all the extra efforts all are putting in, in these unusual times. The latest prediction is that the peak in COVID-19 cases in Sweden will be around Easter, or just a week after, and that the cases will be decreasing until Midsummer. This means that we will probably continue to work remotely for a while.

At CBH, we have now tried the first PhD defense, all by video link (ZOOM). It was last Friday, at the department of Chemical Engineering and everything worked very well, with 100 people participating online. Signing of the protocol electronically also worked well.

There will be no classroom examinations for the rest of the semester. Teachers spend a lot of time now to ensure the quality of the examination and there are for example plans to do a combination of written and oral examinations.

KTH is assisting the healthcare system in a variety of ways. There are several initiatives, both large scale and small scale, at CBH. In order to facilitate help to the beneficiaries, KTH is now coordinating its relief efforts. KTH's deputy president Mikael Östling is responsible for this coordination, managed by Christina Zander, head of administration at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
