Mikael on impact and innovation

Published Feb 17, 2021

Head of School Mikael Lindström writes about the CBH School's work with impact, a new exciting webinar series and KTH's newly established innovation award.

The word impact is defined as an effect, change or benefit for the economy, society, culture, policies or services, health, environment or quality of life - beyond academia. In KTH's impact project, activities are conducted to increase KTH's impact, among other things by increasing awareness of the concept among KTH's researchers. KTH's impact project is centrally led by a project manager who, together with appointed impact managers at each school, drives the work forward. At CBH, My Hedhammar and Bertil Gruve are responsible for impact and Josefin Illergård is the communicator in the project. The group is now starting a webinar series on research infrastructure at CBH. On three occasions during the spring semester, starting this February, you will be able to take part in lunch webinars in Zoom.

The webinars are held in English and the zoom link will be published on CBH Impact's page .

On the theme of impact, this week we learned about the newly established KTH Innovation Award . The prize is awarded to people from KTH who, through groundbreaking innovations, have contributed to a better society. The award was established in 2020 through donations by Spotify's CEO and founders Daniel Ek and Mathias Uhlén, professor at KTH. The prize money is SEK 500,000.

Everyone can nominate a candidate for the KTH Innovation Award. You can also nominate yourself. The nomination is open until April 15.
