Mikael on the quality dialogue

Published Apr 29, 2020

Head of School Mikael Lindström informs about CBH's quality dialogue and plans for a strong expansion of the foundation year programme this autumn.

Dear colleagues,

At the beginning of this week, we at CBH had our first quality dialogue via Zoom. The dialogue is an opportunity for us to get feedback on our school reports on first and second cycle education, third-cycle education and our provision of skills. Our GA Mats Nilsson, our FA Christina Divne and our FFA Amelie Eriksson Karlström have been responsible for the reports and we received a lot of praise for how they are written. Thank you also to everyone else who has been involved in the process. Questions that we raised from the school during the quality dialogue were:

• The resource allocation system

• Starting Contributions

• First and second cycle education volume

• GRU funding

• Processes for the recruitment of new staff

As you know, a strong expansion of the foundation year programme is already underway this autumn, as a first investment in KTH by the government. Our Deputy Head of School Sebastiaan Meijer leads the group that will look at all possibilities. On Wednesday, a Zoom meeting was held for anyone interested to see how we can all contribute. We have also been asked to make an assessment from KTH about any lack in research funding in addition to the university's research grants. The CBH School is dependent on external financing of up to 50 per cent, and we see that there may be a risk of a 20 per cent loss, especially in companies' co-financing of new projects. Other areas are already receiving money, health, for example. We will have to stay calm and see where we end up in the future as investments in research and education usually follow when we see an increase in unemployment on a national level. It is important that we as a nation can maintain and continue to develop research and education in various socially important areas.
