Mikael on quality assurance work at CBH

Published Mar 11, 2020

Head of School Mikael Lindström provides information on UKÄ's educational evaluation at the doctoral level, which will be launched during the spring.

We have recently completed the Swedish Higher Education Authority’s (UKÄ) review of KTH's quality assurance work and we will be notified of UKÄ's decision and the assessment group's final opinion in mid-March.

Now it is time for UKÄ's education evaluation at the research level, which is also part of the national system for quality assurance of higher education. On March 17 there is a start-up meeting with UKÄ. Our FA Christina Divne and our vice FA Inger Odnevall Wallinder will participate together with KTH's quality coordinator Magnus Johansson. In the same way as in previous evaluations, the methodology used will be self-evaluation, based on parameters in the areas:

  • Conditions
  • Design, implementation and results
  • Doctoral student perspective
  • Work life and collaboration

The third-cycle education subjects that have been selected are organic chemistry, analytical chemistry and physical chemistry. We are well prepared and the assessment groups will read all the doctoral students' eISP (Individual study plans) as part of the basis for assessing design, implementation and results. We have enough information to be able to assess the conditions for the third-cycle education, but it is not documented as well as eISP, so from May 1 we will implement a process we have chosen to call Green Light. The FA has led the work developing the process during the fall of 2019 and CBH's management team has made comments on several occasions. Green Light is an assessment of the study environment, conducted by the main supervisor via a simple form. We will return with more information in the near future.

We are receiving questions about staffing in the administration at CBH. Since we are located on four campuses and everyone can’t be visible to the whole operations, it is important that we help each other. Head of Administration Marie Larson will ensure that our contact pages on the intranet  are updated more frequently and we will make it easier to find those pages from the home page of our intranet. This will not solve all your questions about staffing who to turn to, but hopefully it is a step in the right direction. Feel free to contact Marie Larson if you have any questions.
