Mikael on the eased pandemic restrictions

Published Sep 22, 2021

Head of School Mikael Lindström writes about how KTH is affected when most pandemic restrictions are lifted on 29 September.

Last week, participants in the coordination group met for what we hope was the last time due to covid-19. The group consists of the President, the University Director, Heads of Schools, Deputy President, Dean, Vice President for Education, selected heads of the university administration, student representatives and communication officers. Decisions of high importance are discussed in the group. The current situation at KTH is also analyzed and new matters can be introduced.

As you know, most of the pandemic restrictions in Sweden will be lifted on 29 September. At KTH, this means that the recommendation for teleworking ceases for all activities, there will be regular furnishing in our lecture halls and larger gatherings, meetings and conferences will be allowed. As for travel, at KTH we follow the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' recommendations.

The President’s and the Deputy President’s educational focus is that we must retain the digital elements that are pedagogically motivated. The dissertations are the only activity that has been affected by the restrictions on public gatherings. The call here, however, even if the participant ceiling is removed, is to continue the opportunity to participate digitally for both participants and audiences.
