Mikael about Sigbritt Karlsson’s meeting with CBH's management team

Published Mar 25, 2021

Head of School Mikael Lindström writes about KTH President Sigbritt Karlsson's visit to Tuesday's management group meeting, and about the recently completed UKÄ assessment of the doctoral programs in chemistry.

On Tuesday, President Sigbritt Karlsson visited CBH's management team. We had chosen the theme of sustainable development now and in five years' time. We know that our students are very interested in this, and the debate in society is increasingly intense, as Sweden in just over two decades shall reach the goal of net zero climate emissions.

Our nine institutions presented their activities and we got to see the breadth of research and education we have in the areas that concern several global societal challenges. These include sustainable energy, health and aging populations, climate change, sustainable production and working life, food production and clean water.

The president thanks the CBH School for the visit and writes that she got a very good picture of both education and research related to sustainable development.

This week, UKÄ's assessment group for postgraduate education in analytical, physical and organic chemistry conducted the final interview with CBH's doctoral students, supervisors and management. Many thanks to everyone who has contributed, both to the self-assessment and the active participation in the interviews. We get their opinion after the summer.

When it comes to the pandemic, the spread of infection in Sweden has increased and now we have the highest number of new cases per capita in Western Europe. The number of confirmed cases is just over 600 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks. We just want to continue to appeal to you to follow FHM's recommendations and continue to keep your distance, for example in lunch and coffee rooms for those of you who still need to be on site.
