Mikael on School dialogue 2

Published Oct 05, 2022

Mikael writes about School dialogue 2 and co-financing.

Tomorrow we have school dialogue two with KTH’s management. In the school dialogue between KTH’s management and the school management, there will be a follow up of this year’s mission and the commission for next year’s budget and plan. We will bring up CBH’s challenges and success factors for the following year.

Because of the merger of the three schools in 2018 we are well prepared for the renewal of the teaching programmes in Biotech, Health, and Medical technology. We have a very strong growth of external research funding – big and up-to-date external drives in Precision medicine, Health data, and Materials Science that fits well with the school’s strategy and focus areas.

Our staff at CBH is very committed and we have succeeded well with the new recruitments. When it comes to location and rental costs, the school is located on four campuses. Three of them are handled differently than KTH's central model. We have a large increase in premises costs (AlbaNova), continued high premises costs (Flemingsberg) and lack of space (SciLifeLab).

Another thing we will bring up is the need of co-financing and that the strategic space is swallowed more and more by the need of co-financing since our external financiers only cover a minor part of the joint costs. We will also continue to box funds for starting allowances for new faculty positions.
