Abstract: Power quality (PQ) is an important issue for modern distribution systems which consist of many kinds of renewable energy sources such as PV, wind and biomass. The existing level of PQ is thus crucial for utilities for many aspects such as PQ improvement, PQ mitigation and solutions, system maintenance and planning, and benchmarking PQ. In order to perform such tasks, PQ database is required. The database should collect measurements from many substations in the system with effective management. Currently, Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) is carrying PQ Database Management project. The first stage will be collecting measurements from all substations in PEA’s system and perform PQ data displays such as harmonics, flicker, unbalance, voltage sags. Minimum quality standard (MQS) and PQ health index will be proposed in the project. In the future, PQ data analytics will be implemented with available PQ data.

Bio: Thavatchai Tayjasanant received the B.Eng. degree from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand in 1994, the M.Sc. degree from the University of Manchester, Manchester, U.K. (formerly UMIST) in 1996, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Alberta, Canada, in 2005, all are in electrical engineering. Currently, he is an associate professor at Chulalongkorn University where he has been since 1998. His research interests are power quality analysis in distribution systems, street and horticulture lighting and railway electrification.
