Describe your societal impact
KTH contributes to the surrounding society through excellent research, education, and collaboration. Each researcher contributes to KTH's impact and how the public views the university.
The positive effect that KTH has on society is called impact. Our press and content team covered KTH's significant research advancements, influencial grants, and innovations. Researchers themselves are also essential in spreading knowledge of KTH's research and its importance. One way is by writing an impact story.
Write an impact story
Putting your research into words is an excellent way to enhance understanding of your work and how it contributes to the bigger picture. Writing an impact story is a place to start. It is an overall description that answers the following:
Problem
What problem/what challenge is the research going to solve? Why is it of importance?
Solution
Briefly tell about the research/education you have performed. What is it about, the solution to the problem/challenge, and in what form? When can it be applied in real life?
Result
What does it contribute to, and for whom? What effect can it have? Both in a short and long term perspective.
Field of application
After completing an impact story, you can:
- Publish it on your profile page as a subpage
- Compile it to a news article proposal
- Add it to your LinkedIn profile
Concrete examples of this kind are also helpful when presenting your research and applying for funds or grants.
