What is ORCID?

Open Researcher & Contributor ID (ORCID) is an international personal directory of researchers. Each researcher is assigned a unique id used for publishing and for applications. With the help of this unique id there is a better opportunity to link research findings to the right author. An ORCID iD consists of a clickable link that contains 16 digits, orcid.org/XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX .

ORCID is supported by many of the world's leading publishers as well as universities etc. A complete list of members can be found here .

Why is KTH an ORCID member?

Bibliometric analyzes and evaluation of KTH's research results are facilitated by ORCID iDs. KTH sees ORCID as an internationally important initiative and would like to be an active partner in ORCID.

Who owns the information stored in ORCID?

In order to ensure transparency, accessibility and impartiality ORCID is handled and managed by ORCID Inc., a non-profit organization with headquarters in the United States.

The information in ORCID is owned by ORCID Inc. However, you are as an individual KTH researcher responsible for the information on your ORCID profile.
