Cities Partnerships Programme Funds

Published Nov 19, 2020

UCL Cities Partnerships Programme and call with a deadline on 13 December.

Background

UCL Cities Partnerships Programme is a project run by UCL. Here  you can read more about the project. UCL has selected Stockholm as the focus city 2020-2023 which means that KTH, SU and KI will collaborate (Stockholm trio). Stockholm stad and Region Stockholm will also be a part of the collaboration. UCL describes the collaboration as follows:

Objectives for CpP Stockholm

  • To support and develop collaboration in research, teaching and policy/industry impact between scholars in UCL and Stockholm, through seed-funding, running innovative pilot activities, agreeing partnership frameworks and other means
  • The first CpP call for Stockholm will launch in late 2020/ early 2021, with funding provided from 2021. The general level of funding per project will be in the region of £5000.
  • To identify possible areas of mutual interest for future work in partnership, while maintaining an emphasis on existing interdisciplinary co-operation, between UCL and the Stockholm-based institutions and organisations. In Stockholm, UCL academics already work very closely with the Stockholm University Alliance: Karolinska Institutet, KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University.
    • KI is UCL’s top university collaborative partner under Horizon 2020 with 28 Horizon 2020 projects. Major concentrations of activity are in public health, mental health and neurosciences.
    • UCL and KTH are also very successful in terms of collaborative European research grants, with 17 grants under Horizon 2020, spanning from biomedicine to photonics.
    • With Stockholm University, there is similar pattern of success. With 5 Horizon 2020 projects and a significant history of student exchange and exchange or practice and ideas between academics in humanities and social sciences fields. Recent areas of research include environmental health, astronomy and energy.
  • Over three years (starting in Autumn 2020), to create communities of academics, students and others around the developing partnerships between UCL and institutions in Stockholm and – where appropriate – across Sweden and Scandinavia, with Stockholm as locus of activity
  • To engage new stakeholders (i.e. policy, industry, business) and the public in the creation, dissemination and use of knowledge, by developing links with civic and cultural institutions, businesses, groups of UCL alumni, potential students, and others
  • To develop capacity and cultivate advocates within the institutions and groups of stakeholders: to sustain and grow partnerships beyond the three years of the programme, and to increase the impact of the work achieved by those collaborations

More detailed information about the collaboration will come.
