Call to Support and Coordination Actions on (long-term) Data Storage, Data Lab, and Data Factories

Internal coordination meeting March 14, 9-10 Deadline: Call April 3, 2019

Published Mar 11, 2019

Availability of useful data will be the key to success of many research activities in the digitalization domain. A data lab that provides data and the support on how to use the data has a high potential for data driven innovations. Accordingly there are related activities ongoing on national level and preparations on KTH-level. In particular, VINNOVA has currently a call on “Data lab and data factory as a national resource”.

Due to its high strategic relevance The KTH Digitalization Platform wants to support related preparations. In particular, it will support researcher (groups) that are interested in applying to the Vinnova call above. Moreover, the platform wishes to identify and bring together researchers that have a need for long-term data storage and researchers that are looking for (open) data on which AI and machine learning algorithms can be developed and tested.

Support action:

  • The KTH Digitalization Platform financially supports a PI from KTH on the preparation of a proposal that is send to the Vinnova call above on Data Factories and Labs with 50kSEK.
  • An applicant should briefly outline the idea of the project proposal, involved (planned) partners, and key arguments on how to meet Vinnovas call objectives. Application should be send to oech@kth.se
  • Funding decision will be taken shortly after submission. The platform will support at most 6 proposals. Decision will be taken following first come, first serve principle.

Coordination action:

  • If you are interested both generally or specifically in this topic or current support action, please send an Email to oech@kth.se with a brief description of your interests and needs.
  • Initial coordination meeting jointly with Rosa Lönneborg
    (KTH coordinator for research data)
