Welcome to the energy competence hub at KTH

Published Nov 16, 2020

KTH Energy Platform coordinates and supports interdisciplinary research initiatives in the energy segment at KTH and brings together more than 450 researchers in 30 research groups and five competence centres working in 17 research areas related to energy issues.

We are now launching a series of articles in which we present the energy competence centres in which KTH participates. First up is the Swedish Centre for Nuclear Technology (SKC), whose director is Merja Pukari.

Each competence centre’s goal is to work long-term to create strong networks between academia and business. The aim is to establish the efficient transfer of research results and contribute to knowledge development and competence sharing among energy segment actors. Through each competence centre, the academy has the opportunity to build internationally strong research environments and further develop its scientific excellence, relevance, and attractiveness. Each competence centre is financed three ways by a university, business, and a government agency.

KTH’s Energy Dialogue, which is organized by the Energy Platform, is our annual conference that aims to profile the wide range of energy-related research conducted in our various colleges and programmes. This year it will take place in a live broadcast on Thursday November 19th between 1pm and 3pm from the Tekniska Museét in Stockholm.

During this event, we will present our competence centres in the energy field, together with selected flagship projects such as SUNRISE, led by Pär Olsson, professor of physics specialising in nuclear materials at KTH.
