Current scholarship announcements at the foundation administration

Here you will find information and links to various KTH scholarship funds during the respective application period. The external calls for proposals will not be translated.

Announcement of the grants from the foundation Petersohns Minne (Erik), School of Engineering Sciences 2020 (reference number VT-2020-0044). Amount available 140 600 SEK

Application period October 1 to October 22, 2020

The grants are intended to support basic research in the Aero-and Hydrodynamic field. This also includes shorter research visits, participation in conferences, symposia and courses. The scholarship is awarded primarily as travel grants to Ph.D. students, post-docs and assistant Professors in the Aero-and Hydrodynamic field.

Granted scholarships will be paid to the applicant’s school department. It is not possible to receive the scholarship to a private bank account.

The application shall include a description of the purpose of the scholarship, a budget with documents that supports all costs and a CV. If there exists a confirmation of a presentation, this shall be included. All attachments must have the applicant's name in the upper right corner.

A budget form must be filled in and should together with budget attachments, accompany the application. You need to include documentation showing how you calculated your costs (can be a screen print or the like). Fill in the budget form before you start to fill in the application form. The budget should be based on expected actual travel costs. Other costs should be specified and motivated. Link to the budget form .

Please note that all trips should be booked according to KTH’s guidelines for travel.

The scholarship amount may not be used for Per diem (traktamente).

The scholarship application should be made well in advance before the date of departure (expect a processing time of about 2-3 months).

PhD students must submit a letter of recommendation from their main supervisor.

A granted scholarship may only be used for that particular trip/conference. Change of purpose is granted only in exceptional cases where the reason is beyond the applicant´s control. Application for a change of approved purpose can be made within one year after the original decision. As per usual, a trip can’t be granted in retrospect. Link to the form for a change of purpose .

The SCI-school awaits a short travel report  within one month after return. If a travel report hasn’t been submitted after one month, the scholarship must be repaid.

If the trip is cancelled or if the scholarship is not used for the granted purpose, it must be repaid without delay. Contact stipendier@kth.se  for information on how this should be done.

Advertisement of grants from the ISSLS2000 foundation for 2020, registration no. VT-2020-0030

This year's application period is July 9 to September 22, 2020

Foundation ISSLS 2000 consists of a donation based on the excess from the Conference ISSLS2000 (International Symposium on Service and Local access) held in Stockholm in 2000. The organizers and main sponsors were Ericsson and Telia, the other main sponsors were the companies 3Com, Nortel Networks Sweden, Tellabs AB and Xerox AB.

The purpose of the foundation is to facilitate scientific research and education within the telecommunication area, specifically those areas which are or will be of importance for the development of various types of access networks. Relevant for this grant is also education within adjacent fields that are of importance for the continuing developments of communication based services.

The foundation distributes one to three scholarships at 50,000 SEK each to scholars that excel in a distinguished way through a degree project at the M.Sc. level which is well executed, insightful and of high quality . The results from the project should furthermore be expected to make a valuable contribution to the development of various types of access networks or the development of services for communication networks.  

In order to be a relevant applicant for the scholorship, the degree project must have been approved at KTH no later than 12 month prior to the application date.

Applications must be registered by September 22, 2020. The applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail.

Advertisement travel grants from the "Jubilee appropriation" 2020 (registration number V-2020-0589)

Incomplete application will be rejected

The appropriation is made available to the President to primarily be used for scholarships for such trips, which best promote a personal scientific exchange for the benefit of Swedish research. The scholarship is primarily to be granted to younger researchers, whereby the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation would like to see that the amounts distributed in each particular case cover at least a substantial part of the travel expenses. The Foundation has no objections to the funds being used exceptionally to finance visits by foreign guest researchers.

Scholarships can be applied for at any time during the year. Apply well in advance of your trip. The application must not be made retroactively, i.e. after the journey has begun or is already completed. New for this year is that decisions will be made four times a year (March, June, September and December).

A budget form must be completed and attached with the application. Fill in the budget form and save it in a document together with the budget attachments before filling in your application (file format pdf or excel). The budget should be based on expected real travel costs. Please note that all trips must be booked in accordance with KTH's travel guidelines. Other costs are both specified and justified. It is only possible to be granted one scholarship per call from the Jubilee grant. Postgraduate students with an oral presentation are given priority. Scholarships can be given up to a maximum of SEK 20,000 per trip.

Doctoral students must submit letters of recommendation from their main supervisor. The supervisor only has the opportunity to write letter of recommendation to two of his PhD students per registration number (diarienummer) to the Jubilee appropriation (the announcement of the year is between June and May). In the case of more applications with recommendation letters from the same supervisor, these applications will be rejected.

Change of trip is not granted. Scholarships granted which are not used for the purpose sought must be refunded. Granted scholarships are requested by the school's finance function and this must be done within six months of the decision date.

All scholarships are personal. Recipients of a scholarship must submit a brief travel report no later than one month after the completed trip. Travel Report Form is available on the Travel Report page: Travel report

Advertisement of scholarships from Olle Eriksson Foundation for Materials Engineering for 2020. (Reg. no. VT-2020-0002)

The application for grants is open to year end.

Grants may be applied anytime during the year. The application may not be made retroactively. Apply well in advance of the trip. Decisions are made four times a year (March, June, September and December).

According to the Foundation's statutes the return from the foundation will be used to support research and higher technical education in Materials Design and Engineering/Materials Engineering.

Scholarships can be awarded to researchers at KTH doing research in the field of Materials Design and Engineering/Materials Engineering to be used for conference participation or shorter research stays.

The grants are to researchers with a PhD (doctorate degree). Young researchers will be given priority. From 2016 it is no longer possible for Ph D students to apply for a grant from this foundation.

The application for grants is open to year end.

The Foundation's purpose is to encourage and support American-Swedish economic relations. If you are a master student, doctoral student or researcher, you are welcome to submit your application.

The foundation supports the purpose by primarily by awarding scholarships to the one who writes the best essay, report, research report regarding the above subject area.

Secondly, by awarding a scholarship for exchange/visit/doctoral studies at Cornell University, USA.
