KTH research infrastructures

KTH research infrastructures are strategic and of particular importance to the university. They have a long-term plan for organisation, quality development and funding, as well as for how their activities create value for society. They are accessible to many stakeholders and have a large number of users.

Criteria

To ensure that KTH’s activities have access to equipment and instruments in strategically important areas, KTH has carried out development work within the field of research infrastructure.

A set of criteria for KTH research infrastructures is compiled in the following document (in Swedish only), which can be downloaded:

Management of KTH infrastructures (in Swedish only)

The criteria highlight the importance of research infrastructures that:

  • are strategic, used by many and open to a range of stakeholders
  • have long-term planning regarding organisation, funding, relevant expertise and equipment (maintaining state-of-the-art), as well as their impact on and collaboration with society
  • maintain continuous quality development

Annual evaluations are conducted and followed up through quality-enhancing discussions between each Director and KTH management.
