KTH Incident Response Team (IRT)
Report computer incidents, such as intrusions, attempted intrusions, denial-of-service attacks, illegal software distribution, spam, etc
Organisation
The IRT organisation at KTH started in early 1998 and works as an expert assistance that can quickly respond to computer incidents. The main goals of the activities are as follows:
Work to ensure that intrusions and incidents are detected at an early stage by increasing the logging of traffic on KTH's network and by increasing awareness of data security among department heads and system administrators.
Develop strategies for handling intrusions.
Develop legally/technically correct guidelines for documenting intrusions and incidents.
Create a bank of experience regarding data intrusions and incidents.
Develop checklists that facilitate the detection of intrusions and guidelines for restoring systems after intrusions.
Propose security solutions for different operating systems (responsibility for implementation, however, lies with the respective department/unit).
