A chance to make a difference at ITM
Hello, Viktoria Martin, chair of the nomination committee for the ITM Faculty Board. What kind of people are you looking for as new board members?
“We are looking for people who are passionate about academic collegiality and see this as an opportunity to help lead and develop ITM’s education, research and collaboration with society at large. We are looking for people who want to take an active role and represent their department. The role also involves building links with other units and contributing to the development of ITM as a whole.”
What has the current board focused on?
“A great deal of work has gone into establishing decision-making processes for ITM’s activities. Since then, things have been running smoothly – for example, when it comes to introducing and phasing out courses and finalising degree programmes.
When it comes to doctoral education, the board has decided to commission an external review of the programmes. In terms of recruitment, the board reviews recruitment cases and decides whether recruitment processes can proceed. It has also developed new ways of working to shorten recruitment times.”
What will the new board be working on?
“Looking ahead, there are great opportunities to help shape ITM’s priorities and future development. In particular, active participation in ITM’s reform agenda, the school’s strategic development plan, stronger experimental environments and the education of the future will be key building blocks for an excellent ITM.”
