Martin Törngren has been appointed the ITM School's new Deputy Head of School from June 1. Pär Jönsson is acting Head of School from July 1 when current Head of School Jan Wikander retires. Who is Martin and what will he do? We have sought the answers.

Hi Martin Törngren, who has been appointed as Deputy Head of School at ITM. What will you do as Deputy Head of School?

– Above all, I will focus on coordinating the research at the ITM School. Nowadays, when talking about Industry 4.0, digitization and sustainability, we must be better at gathering joint forces to meet the challenges we face. Techniques from different disciplines must be interlinked. We must utilize the broad expertise we have and also renew the education.

Why do you think this role fits you?

– I really like multidisciplinary research and over the years I have accumulated a lot of experience from it. I also think my experience from competence networks can be useful.

When do you start?

– From June 1, I will spend 20 percent of my time on the new role.

What is the first thing you will do?

– Teach the new colleagues I'm sitting with how to juggle.
