Is the work only external?
For window maintenance, access to the premises will be required on two occasions:
- At the beginning of the project for the removal of windows and outer window frames.
- At the end of the project for the reinstallation of windows and outer window frames.
Façade work will be carried out externally only.
Roof work will be carried out externally only.
Will the façade be completely covered (blocking daylight)?
- The façade will only be covered with plywood at ground level to reduce the risk of break-ins and prevent unauthorized persons from climbing the scaffolding. Alarm systems will be installed on the scaffolding.
- Above the ground floor, the scaffolding will be fitted with weather-protection sheeting to protect the ongoing work from wind and precipitation. The sheeting consists of a dense white fabric.
Will it be possible to use the courtyard during the work?
- Yes, the courtyard will remain accessible and usable throughout the contract period.
Will the skylights be covered during the work, or will our studios (43:36) still receive daylight?
- The skylights will not be covered, meaning daylight access to the studios will remain.
- Scaffolding will be erected around the larger façade sections and entrances. All entrances will remain accessible throughout the project.
Building access (access cards and keys)
- The AH project manager will contact the access card office regarding KTH buildings. For Building 43:36, access requests will be directed to David Meyer.
How many people will be working on each building (window contract)?
- Approximately 3–4 people (for the window maintenance contract).
Emergency evacuation
- Emergency exits and evacuation routes will not be affected, as scaffolding will be erected around entrance doors and gates.
Noisy work activities
- PCB remediation (milling/removal of old sealant and milling/removal of PCB-contaminated material)
- Window renovation (cutting away any rot damage and sanding/removal of old paint)
- Façade renovation (cutting new joints and removing old plaster joints)
Final inspection
- Once the work has been completed and before the scaffolding is dismantled, an inspector will carry out a final inspection of the completed work.
Information
- More detailed information will be distributed continuously by Project Manager Natalia Silinski (external project manager for Akademiska Hus).
- Weekly progress reports will be distributed starting in Week 33.
- Safety representatives within KTH have been informed about the upcoming project.
What equipment will be used?
- Mobile scaffolding or aerial work platforms (boom/scissor lifts).

Notification of the remediation
- Notification of the remediation work has been submitted to the Environmental Administration.
