The e identification service FrejaID is being introduced at KTH
KTH is introducing FrejaID to provide existing students, employees, and affiliates who do not have BankID with equivalent service for digital access to KTH services. FrejaID is an e identification service based on the user’s biometric passport and currently supports passports from 170 countries.
Individuals who lack a Swedish personal identity number or BankID currently need to visit KTH Entré in person for activation, password changes, and password resets. Existing users can now link their active KTH account to the FrejaID e‑identification service in order to manage their KTH account digitally for reactivation, password changes, and password resets. This applies to users who have already activated their KTH account.
Possession of a FrejaID e‑identification also simplifies interactions for international individuals when dealing with Swedish authorities such as the Swedish Migration Agency, the Swedish Tax Agency, and others.
Why are we doing this?
KTH is introducing FrejaID in order to:
- free up time by reducing manual case handling
- increase security, reduce waiting times, and reduce administrative work related to exceptions from the requirement for an in‑person visit at KTH
- increase security awareness in identity management
The introduction of FrejaID as an e‑identification method at KTH is also a first step toward enabling digital account activation when welcoming new international students.
How to manage your KTH account using e‑identification.
This project is carried out within the program Legally Secure Identity and Access Management and is part of a series of measures to ensure that the correct identity is linked to the correct KTH account.
