Reminder: Environment and sustainability on the cross!
Now you can apply for funds to increase the cross-disciplinary linkages within environment and sustainable development at KTH. Examples of activities that you can apply for funding for are:
- Bring an assistant supervisor with complementary skills for a doctoral student.
- Develop a new course with the expertise of several departments.
- Arrange a conference or seminar series with an interdisciplinary theme.
- Start a school-wide network or conduct activities in an existing network.
No later than August 31, 2012, we want your application sent to sustainability@kth.se written in a specific template.

New adjunct professor in Applied Environmental Economics and Environmental Statistics
Viveka Palm, Head of Unit Environmental Accounts and Natural Resources på Statistics Sweden (SCB), is now appointed adjunct professor in Applied Environmental Economics and Environmental Statistics at Department of Urban Planning and Environment.
Upcoming conferences and seminars
August 19-22, Nordic Ergonomic Society Conference on Ergonomics for Sustainability and Growth
Areas that will be discussed during these days are for example “Sustainable working life and sustainable life style” and “Management and development for sustainability”. KTH is co-organizer together with Ergonomics & Human Factors Society Sweden.

September 20, Algae-based biofuels hold great promise to replace fossil fuels
The 19 to 20 of September 2012 one of the world’s leading researchers on biorefinery of microalgae will visit KTH. Professor Rene H. Wijffels from Wageningen University and Research Centre, The Netherlands, will meet colleagues at KTH interested in algae research for biofuel production and he will also give an open talk about the research field and the great possibilities that large scale algae production may have in the future.
