Evaluation of KTH’s sustainability research
KTH-Sustainability sees a need for evaluating research related to environmental science and technology and sustainable development at KTH. This is valuable for external communication of our strengths and also for future strategic work, for example in relation to the new development plans. The basis for the evaluation will be material produced within the RAE 2012. There will be an information meeting Feb 8th at 11.30-13.00 in Sydöstra Galleriet, KTHB. A lunch sandwich will be served, so please notify your attendance in this doodle no later than Feb 4th.
New colleague at KTH-Sustainability
My name is Helene Limén and I will work as a project leader at KTH-sustainability from the 14th of January. My background is within the field of ecology and I have previously worked as a researcher both in Sweden and Canada. During the past five years I have worked with technology assessments at the Swedish Parliament – dealing with issues that have bearing on sustainable development and future challenges. I am looking forward to elucidate and strengthen the ongoing work of sustainable development of KTH’s research, education and collaboration.
Vacancy: Environmental coordinator
The environmental group, currently consisting of three people, are looking for a fourth colleague. As environmental coordinator, you will primarily be working with the development, implementation and management of the environmental management system, including for example environmental legislation, environmental auditing, documentation, education, reporting and environmental requirements in procurement. Are you interested in PhD-courses in sustainable development?
KTH-Sustainability is looking for an academic leader for the new Forum for PhD-courses in Sustainable Development that will start during spring. The person we are looking for shall at least have a degree of doctor, preferably also docent competence. The work is estimated to take 20% of full-time and will be financed from KTH-Sustainability. Send your letter of interest no later than January 25th to sustainability@kth.se .
Are you interested in working with education for sustainable development?
During 2013 KTH-Sustainability continues to work with several projects related to education for sustainable development (ESD). One example is development of a toolbox for ESD to be used by teachers. We are now looking for someone who likes to help us with this! You will be financed by KTH-Sustainability and the work is estimated to take 20% of full-time. Send your letter of interest to sustainability@kth.se no later than February 1st.
PhD-course in Systems Analysis 2013
Starting on January 30th, a course in Systems Analysis (7,5 ECTS, 1H5129) will be held at the Department of Transport Science at KTH in collaboration with a number of researchers at the School of Architecture and the Built Environment. Systems analysis deals with integration of knowledge from different areas in order to handle complex problems, often focusing on applications requiring actions and decisions. Workshop on the exploitation of Täby Galoppfält
In the process of developing Täby Galoppfält into a new urban district, the project team wants to come in contact with researchers. On Monday 4th of February at 13.00-15.00 (seminar room Albert Danielsson/643, Sing-Sing, floor 6) , KTH-Sustainability and KTH Business liaison invites you to take part in a workshop on this topic. Seminar: What is social sustainability?
While many teachers and researchers at KTH feel quite at home with the ecological dimension of sustainability, the social and economical dimensions are perceived as more hard to grasp. To support the inclusion of also these perspectives, KTH-Sustainability is arranging two seminars during the spring 2013. Each seminar will comprise a number of short presentations followed by discussions. The first seminar focusing on social sustainability is Thursday Feb 7th at 13.00-15.00 at Salongen, KTHB. The number of seats are limited, so please register here
Seminar on Industrial Sustainability arranged by KTH Life Cycle Network

In this seminar Dr Nancy Bocken, lead researcher at the Center for Industrial Sustainability, University of Cambridge, UK will present and have open discussions on some of her main research areas including sustainable business models, performance variation, and configurations for a sustainable industrial system.
