KTH’s annual report to the Swedish EPA KTH reports the results of our environmental management to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency annually. The 2018 results indicate both positive and negative developments from the previous year:
Energy use of operations and real estate has decreased. (In 2018, the energy savings has been calculated at 2.5 million kWh / year).
All KTH Campus plan projects have included environmental and sustainability aspects.
Proportion of procurement and framework agreements with environmental requirements has increased from 48% in 2017 to 51% in 2018.
Train travel has increased by 9%.
A negative trend has been identified concerning KTH’s objective for reducing carbon emissions as a result of travel. Total carbon dioxide emissions increased between 2017 and 2018 by 10% with an overall increase of over 464 tonnes.
In 2020 KTH will introduce a plan to offset flight emissions the “Klimatpott”. The aim is to encourage less air travel. The money raised will be used in projects to reduce KTH emissions and help KTH reach its sustainability goals.
