Recruitment process for the next President and Deputy President
The President’s term of office expires on 30 November 2022 and the Deputy President’s expires on 31 December 2022. The University Board has appointed a nomination committee for the development of a proposal for a new President and Deputy President at the board meeting on 9 June 2021. All students and employees at KTH are invited to contribute to these processes during the course of this work.
What the Nomination Committee does
The Nomination Committee works in accordance with the
Higher Education Ordinance
chapter 2 section 8-13 and
the KTH rules of procedure.
The Nomination Committee will submit a proposal for a new president to the University Board which will then make a formal decision on this matter on 17 June 2022. The proposal will then be submitted to the Government for a final decision. The intention is that the new President will take up the position on 1 December 2022. The recruitment process for a new Deputy President will be started as soon as the University Board has forwarded the proposal for a new President to the government.

Recruitment process for Deputy President
The KTH University Board has submitted to the Government its proposal to appoint Anders Söderholm, a professor of business administration who currently serves as Director General of the Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ), as the next President of KTH. The decision was made at the June 17 University Board meeting. The Nomination Committee will now continue working on the search for a new Deputy President to submit as a proposal to the University Board, which appoints the Deputy President. In this process, the proposed President participates as a member of the Nominating Committee, in accordance with the KTH rules of procedure. The chosen Deputy President is expected to begin in January 2023. In this recruitment, KTH collaborates with the company Michaël Berglund AB as external recruitment support. This is the same company that was used as external recruitment support in the recruitment process for the President of KTH.

Timetable for recruiting a new Deputy President
Official timetable (Dnr. V-2021-0300, Ks-code 1.3) for the recruitment of a new Deputy President - decided by the University Board at the board meeting of 24 August 2022.
The present Deputy President’s term of office expires on 31 December 2022. The University Board has appointed a Nomination Committee for the development of a proposal for a new President and Deputy President at the board meeting on 9 June 2021. After the University Board has decided to propose to the Government to hire a new President (KTH's University Board proposed to the government to appoint Anders Söderholm, professor of business administration and currently Director General of the Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ), as the new President of KTH at the board meeting on 17 June 2022), the board must appoint the Nomination Committee to begin the work of proposing a prospective Deputy President. In this work, the proposed new President must be included as a member of the Nomination Committee, in accordance with the KTH rules of procedure (item 12 and 12.2.).
The Deputy President must be appointed by the University Board in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance (ch. 2 § 10).

As an employee or student at KTH, you have the opportunity to nominate candidates for the position as Deputy President at KTH. The nomination should be based on the current employment profile for the Deputy President assignment established by the University Board.
University Board convenes
The Nomination Committee makes a short presentation, summarizing the selection of candidates submitted as proposals (applications and nominations) for the position of Deputy President.
The Nomination Committee and the committee's external recruitment support interview candidates.
Before the Nomination Committee submits a final proposal to the University Board on who should be appointed Deputy President, the nomination committee must organize a presentation of the proposal and at that time procure viewpoints in writing from university teachers, other employees, students and employee organisations.
University Board convenes
The Nomination Committee submits a final proposal to the University Board. In association with this, the Nomination Committee is also to report how teachers and other employees, students and employee organisations have been consulted, what has been noted in association with this, and to report on how the gender equality aspect has been taken into account.
The University Board makes a formal decision on appointing the proposed person as Deputy President for a certain period of time.
