Get inspired by other teachers' course rooms in Canvas

Step into four course rooms that have that little extra

Published Nov 18, 2020

We have listed four course rooms that excel when it comes to good course design. The selection of the course rooms is based in part on what emerged in an evaluation of course rooms in Canvas done in the spring of 2020 and on views that emerged in dialogue with THS Student Union.

Recognition and clarity important for students

The course rooms represent different schools at KTH. Structure, navigation and clarity are part of what is highlighted as particularly good in these course rooms. Although courses differ depending on the subject and thus need to be built up differently, there is a point in having some uniform elements in the course design. Recognition and clarity (for example, where to find course materials and assignments) is an important factor in the successful use of LMS in teaching.

With the help of these examples, we want to show how to use the Canvas design to facilitate navigation in the course rooms and improve the students' experience. A long-term goal is for Canvas to be used in a similar way in more courses, which is important for the students.
