Full-day training on Generative AI
How can we best take advantage of generative AI in our teaching, research, and operational support, while doing it in a way that is safe, legal, and ethically sound? Welcome to a full-day training that provides you with concrete tools and a deeper understanding of generative AI in higher education.
Purpose
The purpose of this training is to strengthen KTH employees’ ability to use generative AI in an effective, secure, and responsible manner. The course provides both practical skills and deeper reflection on the opportunities, risks, and ethical aspects of generative AI, based on KTH’s guidelines and Swedish regulations.
Structure
The training is divided into two parts, and you can choose to attend the full day or only the morning session.
Morning session: For all employees (09:00–12:00)
The morning session is designed for all KTH staff, regardless of whether you work with teaching, research, administration, or other functions. The following themes will be covered:
- Understanding and using generative AI
- Regulations and guidelines
- Smart, secure and ethical use
Afternoon session: For teachers and teaching staff (13:00–16:00)
The afternoon session is primarily aimed at teachers and others working with education and teaching. The following themes will be covered:
- Assessment and examination in a world with AI
- Structural and discursive changes in teaching
Lunch and refreshments
There is allocated time for lunch between 12:00 and 13:00, as well as for coffee and refreshments during both the morning and afternoon sessions. Please note that the cost for lunch and refreshments is not included in the training and must be ordered separately.
Preparation
All participants must have access to a generative AI service. As a KTH employee, you have access to Microsoft Copilot Chat (KTH’s recommended AI tool). Information on how to access the service can be found under AI services: Microsoft Copilot Chat .
You will also need to bring your own laptop to fully participate in the training.
Learning Objectives
The morning and afternoon sessions have different focuses and therefore different learning objectives.
After the morning session, you will be able to:
- Use Copilot and other generative AI tools in accordance with KTH’s guidelines
- Apply basic strategies for effective and purposeful prompt engineering
- Reflect on how generative AI can improve your practice within your own area of work
- Use generative AI tools while respecting GDPR, copyright laws, and other regulations
- Adopt an ethical approach to the use of generative AI, particularly regarding accuracy, bias, and environmental impact
After the afternoon session, you will also be able to:
- Identify opportunities and challenges related to generative AI in assessment and examination
- Design examinations that guide students away from AI-related misconduct
- Create course-specific information on generative AI based on your course’s intended learning outcomes, teaching methods, and examination forms
- Communicate and anchor guidelines on generative AI with your students in a clear and constructive way
