Future Education at Storträffen Meetup celebrating 10 years spring 2026
The podcast Fika chat on the future of education (episode #59) visited the Storträffen Meetup in May 2025, which was co-arranged with the SoTL-conference (KTH Scholarship of Teaching and Learning).
Here, you can see programme items and activities related to KTH's change programme, Future Education, at the Storträffen Meetup on 19 May 2026. The theme of this meeting is: "A Decade of Storträffen Meetups - Lessons for the Future".
The event is mainly organised as a series of round-table discussions, where you can choose from a range of different topics to network and discuss. If you register before 5 May, you will be able to vote on discussion topics, which will help us plan the Storträffen meetup. However, the registration will be open as long as there are spaces available.
Fika chat on 10 years of Storträffen Meetups at KTH
Storträffen meetup for education – what impact has it had, and what role could it play in KTH's future educational development? Sofia Ritzén, Dean, and Anna-Karin Högfeldt, who has organised the Storträffen Meetups from the outset, discuss the Meetups ahead of its 10th anniversary with Gunnar Tibert, Vice Programme Manager of Future Education at KTH, and Marcus Lithander, podcast host.
The event begins and ends with plenary sessions in the lecture hall Q1. Programme Manager Anna Jerbrant will participate in the opening plenary session (starting at 12:30 p.m.), which will also be streamed in Q31.
The majority of the afternoon is dedicated to group discussions in the Q building's seminar rooms.
Information about the suggested discussion topics will be updated. Vote on topics via the blue button above before 5 May.

Different aspects of AI in education - infrastructure, policies, and pedagogical applications
How should KTH design the infrastructure, policies, and governance needed for large-scale use of AI in education? What happens to responsibility, critical thinking, assessment, and human judgment when AI becomes embedded in everyday teaching practice? This session brings together strategic, technical, and pedagogical perspectives to explore the concrete tensions, trade-offs, and decisions universities now need to confront.

Makerspaces at KTH: A Dialogue on How to Best Support Teachers and Students
In 2026 KTH will establish a federated network of makerspaces across all schools and build a new central makerspace in the KTH library. The aim of this project is to provide a missing infrastructural layer that can support the expansion of project-based, experiential learning to all schools and students. Because we are in the early stages of this project, we welcome the opportunity to talk directly with teachers at the Storträff. We will briefly describe what makerspaces are and how they can be incorporated into teaching, and then open a dialogue with teachers to discuss their needs, expectations, hopes, and concerns. Our goal is two-fold: To spread awareness of the makerspace project and to solicit feedback from teachers to help determine its form and direction. (The presentation and discussion will be in English.)

DDBMV – Data driven decision making for assessment of qualifications
A previous pilot project within the Future Education programme demonstrated significant benefits from data-driven decision support in academic merit assessment. Still, the project needs to be expanded to make further progress. During this session, we will outline the current status of the DDBMV project and what we can expect going forward.

Locked test environments beyond Canvas browser
Access to a secure exam environment, not limited to Canvas
At present, the secure exam environment currently available at KTH Campus (Valhallavägen) is limited to Canvas. This means we cannot hold secure, authentic programming exams where students have access to a code editor (they are given an assignment, solve it in an editor where they can run their code, and then submit their file), but cannot access anything else, such as AI tools, for example. We want to discuss the solution available at Campus Flemingsberg and assess the needs of teachers at KTH.
Test result of students using AI vs not using AI in programming course
We have made an experiment where students in an introductory programming course were allowed to use generative AI to write their code, which the other students were prohibited from. In addition, the experimental group also used AI to interrogate themselves about the code. Assessment was the same in both groups. The AI agent used for the interrogation is general and could be used in any subject.

More on Storträffen
When Fika chat recorded an episode from Storträffen in May 2025 (see #59 below), we met Carina Kjörling, former employee at the Management Office (MO).
